Each year, the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) Young Lawyers Division recognizes two attorneys — one practicing outside of Cook County and the other within. Diana Law is the 2010 “Young Lawyer of the Year” downstate recipient. This prestigious and coveted honor is awarded to an attorney who has shown excellence in advocacy and service within their practice of law. They must be a good standing member of the State Bar Association and under the age of 36. Diana was recognized at a luncheon this spring. The entire office of Law Elder Law sends their congratulations to Diana for her hard work!

Starting in the fall of 2010, Law Elder Law LLP will offer an Elder Law & Estate Planning Bootcamp at Waubonsee Community College. The attendees will gain the tools to use in planning for life and death realities, trusts, and financing nursing home care (including VA benefits). They will find out about the need for estate plans and Powers of Attorney. The class is offered through WCC’s Community Education program and is open to those who are 50 years old or better, a loved one, a caregiver, an advisor, or anyone looking for more information in this confusing field of knowledge.

An article called “When long-term care threatens spouse’s assets” was written in the August 5, 2010 edition of the Chicago Tribune. It brought to light the circumstances that more and more people find themselves confronted with every day…. “Will I run out of money trying to take care of a loved one?” Ms. Law was quoted in the article posing real strategies for real people looking for help and answers to some hard questions.
